Match report
Mukasa punishes a lost ball
West Ham United beat Swansea City 1-0 in the Championship on Saturday 17 October, the Swans' first home league defeat of the season, in front of a sell-out crowd. Marko Stamenić was caught in possession just outside the Swansea box, Pablo found Mohamadou Kanté, and Kanté's pull-back was finished by Divine Mukasa after 34 minutes. Vitor Matos made four changes from the midweek win at Millwall, recalling Adam Idah, Gonçalo Franco, Stephen Welsh and Ronald.
Close, but nothing on target
Swansea had 69% of possession and 11 shots, according to Sportmonks, but none on target. Ben Cabango hit the inside of the crossbar before half-time, Idah sent a left-footed shot inches wide on 63 minutes, and Cabango dragged another chance wide soon after. West Ham had nine shots, four on target, and Lawrence Vigouroux saved from Jarrod Bowen and Pablo early in the second half. Maximilian Kilman was the highest-rated player on the pitch at 7.31. Swansea's next league match was a 5-0 defeat at Queens Park Rangers on 24 October.
