Moylan and Salech put Cardiff in control

Moylan opened the scoring after eight minutes, finishing from Yousef Salech's pass. The pair switched roles in the 24th minute, when Moylan supplied Salech for Cardiff's second. Tyreece Campbell pulled one back for Charlton five minutes later, with Tyler Bindon providing the assist, but Cardiff reached half-time 2-1 ahead.

The third goal settles it

Cardiff restored the two-goal lead on 61 minutes. Ollie Tanner made the chance and Moylan scored his second of the afternoon. The midfielder left the field to a strong reception in the 82nd minute after contributing two goals and an assist. API-Football rated Moylan the game's outstanding player at 8.67.

Control finally becomes a win

The numbers support the scoreline. Cardiff held 62% possession and took 27 shots to Charlton's six, with eight efforts on target against three. Cardiff also produced 16 attempts from inside the box while Charlton managed three. Those figures matter after a start in which Cardiff repeatedly controlled the ball without turning that control into enough goals. This time the chances produced three goals, three points and the first league win of Barry-Murphy's tenure.
