Cambrian buses replace Monday trains in morning and evening

Four Cambrian rail services will be replaced by buses on Monday 28 September because Transport for Wales has too few trains available at Machynlleth depot. The operator expects the disruption to last from 06:48 until 14:30. That is an estimate, not a guaranteed return to normal service.
Monday’s affected services
Lloyds Coaches buses are listed for the 06:48 Welshpool to Aberystwyth, 08:27 Aberystwyth to Shrewsbury, 10:27 Shrewsbury to Aberystwyth and 12:27 Aberystwyth to Shrewsbury. TfW says each replacement will call at all stations and cost no extra. Allow longer than the usual train journey.
Monday evening weather replacements
TfW also lists weather-related disruption between Machynlleth and Aberystwyth from 20:30 on Monday 28 September until the end of the day. The 18:08 Birmingham International and 20:32 Shrewsbury trains will terminate at Machynlleth. Lloyds buses will leave Machynlleth for Aberystwyth at 20:48 and 21:50, meeting those incoming trains. Return buses from Aberystwyth to Machynlleth are listed at 21:27 and 22:27. The operator gives an incident estimate of 23:30 but says replacement arrangements continue until 00:30. Treat these as estimates and check before travelling.
Separate Sunday weather disruption
The shortage follows Sunday’s weather-related cancellations between Machynlleth and Aberystwyth. TfW’s latest Sunday notice lists a 21:27 Aberystwyth to Machynlleth replacement, alongside the 20:48 bus in the opposite direction. Monday’s cancellations have a different stated cause: trains needing repair.
