Match report
Wolves fast out of the blocks
Fer López headed Wolves ahead from Hugo Bueno’s cross in the 10th minute, with the club report noting an offside question over his starting position before the goal stood. Adam Armstrong made it 2-0 in the 15th with what Cardiff’s report called a clinical finish, and Ladislav Krejci headed a third from a set piece in the 58th.
Cardiff had the chances
Cardiff had 61 per cent of possession and 13 shots, nine on target, against four on target from Wolves’ 13. Sá, the highest-rated player on the pitch at 8.98, saved from Joel Colwill early in the second half and again six minutes later, and tipped away Yousef Salech’s header in the 77th minute before Colwill failed to convert the rebound. Jack Moylan had a strike ruled out for offside two minutes later.
What next
Brian Barry-Murphy’s side now play two home matches before the next international break, beginning with West Ham United on Wednesday night. Over 2,500 Cardiff supporters had been expected at a sold-out away end.
